Senate Passes RAISE Family Caregivers Act, Bill Will Go to President for Signature

Posted: Jan. 9, 2018

The U.S. Senate passed the RAISE (Recognize, Assist, Include Support and Engage) Family Caregivers Act on Monday night, a significant victory for NAHC and all allies of home health and caregivers, the National Association of Home Care & Hospice reports. NAHC championed this legislation and helped usher its passage through both the House and the Senate and we look forward to it being signed into law by the president.

The RAISE Family Caregivers Act will:

  • Implement the federal Commission on Long-Term Care’s bipartisan recommendation that Congress require the development of a national strategy to support family caregivers.
  • Create an advisory body to bring together relevant federal agencies and others from the private and public sectors to advise and make recommendations.
  • Identify specific actions that government, communities, providers, employers, and others can take to recognize and support family caregivers and be updated annually.
